Are you somebody who enjoys tinkering and is mechanically inclined? Look no further: CACI is seeking a Mechanical Technician in support of the Naval Surface Warfare Center Carderock Division’s (NSWCCDs) Structural Performance and Evaluation Branch (Code 653), located in Bethesda, MD, for the repair, installation, modification, maintenance, and operation of industrial test equipment and mechanical systems in support of the Test and Evaluation of DoD ship and submarine systems. The data collected from this testing equipment has a direct and significant impact on the next generation of Navy ships and submarines under development. These duties are performed across several test facilities that all contain custom and highly configurable industrial testing equipment. You will work with mechanical engineers to determine test requirements and be the boots on the ground to modify industrial testing equipment to make that test happen. Although a solid foundation in general mechanical skills is required, there will be ample on the job training to bring you up to speed on how these systems work. This is a fantastic opportunity to build your skills working on advanced and proprietary industrial testing equipment. Must hold or be able to obtain a SECRET Security Clearance.

Work alongside other contractors and government personnel.
Work with Mechanical Engineers to develop and execute novel testing plans, given that test objectives can differ significantly
Interpret engineering designs, plans, and diagrams into test setup requirements
Assist in configuring and operating industrial testing equipment for test events
Operate and maintain hydraulic and pump systems
Installing test sensors and control systems (i.e. strain gauges, fiber optic lines, data acquisition systems, etc.) in preparation for tests
Unscheduled Maintenance: Inspect equipment, and systems to identify any problems. Troubleshoot and repair faulty equipment units and damaged structures. Perform part or machine disassembly/reassembly as needed to ensure maximum operation.
Scheduled Maintenance: Conduct periodic quality checks on equipment and systems to plan and schedule repairs.
You’ll Bring These Qualifications
Must be a US Citizen
Able to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Security Clearance
Minimum of 3 or more years of related experience in automotive/diesel repair/maintenance, industrial machinery repair/maintenance or other relevant field
Experience reading and understanding mechanical and electrical schematics and diagrams
Mechanically inclined with desire to learn and troubleshoot on the fly
Understanding of general maintenance and troubleshooting procedures and techniques for industrial machinery or auto equipment.
Experience with both scheduled and unscheduled maintenance
Effective problem-solving abilities with written and verbal communication skills.
High attention to detail and quality of work
Ability to adapt to changing work requirements
Compliance with health/safety procedures and regulations.
Ability to work at heights and/or in confined spaces
Ability to work in a team or individually.
These Qualifications Would Be Nice to Have
Active DoD Secret Security Clearance
Experience with industrial hydraulics and pumps highly desired
Experience with actuators, strain gauges, control systems, fiber optics and data acquisition devices
Experience fabricating custom piping, sheet metal, and mechanical components

Pay Range:
This posting is for a position covered by the Service Contract Labor Standards (SCA). The pay and benefits provided for this position will meet or exceed the minimum required amounts detailed in the wage determination issued by the Department of Labor and made applicable to this position, as incorporated into CACI’s government contract for the work location.
Minimum Req uired Hourly Wage:
$22.92
