CACI, Inc. is accepting applications for a Payload Processing Systems Safety Engineer to support a contract for National Reconnaissance Office (NRO) activities.

More About the Role

The Payload Processing Systems Safety Engineer (PPSSE) provides technical analysis of hazards associated with payload processing systems/facilities design, aerospace ground support equipment/hardware, and processing in compliance with Air Force Requirements, and NRO Corporate Policies. PPSSE contractors shall possess at least the Technical Level III (T3). The following additional qualifications are desired:

  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or Professional Engineer (PE)

  • Familiarity with NRO programs and payload processing System Safety design as well as the NRO Safety Review Team process

  • Working knowledge of range safety requirements EWR 127-1 or 91-710

  • Experience working in an integrated contracting environment/team Specific tasks may include:

  • Ensures implementation of applicable 30th/45th Space Wing range safety requirements for NRO payload processing, support equipment/hardware and facilities

  • Reviews and assesses NRO/Operations & Maintenance facilities and equipment work authorization requests (i.e. engineering change requests, preliminary project reviews, etc.)

  • Participates in/develops tailoring of safety requirements documents per AFSPCMAN 91- 710 (or contract equivalent) for NRO payload processing and NRO facilities

  • Conducts/supports facility/systems readiness walk-downs prior to SV program arrival and propellant operations

  • Participates in preliminary design reviews (PDR), critical design reviews (CDR), ground operations working groups (GOWG), ground operations readiness reviews (GORR), technical interchange meetings (TIM), splinter groups, etc.

  • System Safety hazards analysis, design, or research/development and testing of ordnance, explosives, other types of munitions, pyrotechnics, cryogenic, toxic/hypergolic propellants, high pressure (HP) gases, radioactive materials, or other hazardous systems/components

  • Preparation and/or review and approval of hazardous processing procedures safety monitoring of hazardous operations

You’ll Bring These Qualifications

  • Typically has a University Degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Math (STEM) discipline or equivalent experience

  • 5 years related work experience

  • Interfacing with active-duty military and civil service personnel

  • Must be a US Citizen

  • Must have a US Government TS/SCI CI Poly Security Clearance

Since this position can be worked in more than one location, the range shown is the national average for the position.

The proposed salary range for this position is:

$89,500-$188,000
